A very important commercial timber that grows throughout South East Asia (Shorea acutely covers around 196 different species including Lauan, Seraya and Balau) extensively used for Joinery, windows and doors.
26mm (1”) through to 102mm (4”) x 2.1m (7ft) + longer.
Reddish / Brown.
Class 4 Durability 5 – 10 years
Shorea is named after Sir John Shore who was Governor General of the British East India Company a forerunner of the British Empire who began to exploit the timber in the late 1700’s.
